Escape to your own enchanting private island in Provence. In the heart of Provence, this spectacular Villa is available for weekly rentals. It can accommodate 14 guests in a renovated XVIII century manor house located on a Private Island on the Rhne River.

This property is a fully staffed Estate on a Private Island where you will enjoy the most gracious living experience, with a renowned French touch. The professional Chef will prepare meals of the highest quality adapted to your taste and the two House Maids will pamper you. In addition the Estate Manager is available to organize exclusive visits of privately owned historical monuments, tours of olive orchards, picnics at the Pont du Gard, private concerts at the Domaine, or sailing trips to the Calanques, and much more, if you wish and have the time.To use a French expression, you will live "La Vie de Chteau" for the whole duration of your stay in this luxurious family home.

The property occupies 250 acres of a small private island on the Rhne River, a stones throw from the famous Papal city of Avignon in the heart of Provence. The property is covered in orchards and fields, still in active production. Monks of the Carthusian Order built the manor house of the domaine in the eighteenth century. At the time of the French Revolution in 1789 the Domaine was owned by the Knights of the Order of Malta. These origins help to explain the sense of peace and grandeur the buildings extol.

The centrally located 18th century manor house and guest house are surrounded by extensive lawns, a fenced in swimming pool, an orchard, and century-old, tree-lined alles. Within fifteen minutes are the cities of Avignon and Orange with their architectural treasures and music and theatre festivals. Within half an hour are two golf courses, eight one-star restaurants- Avignon itself has three. plus there are wonderful places to visit, including the Pont du Gard, Uzs, St. Rmy de Provence, and Isle-sur-la- Sorgues with its 200 antique dealers. An hour drive brings into range three two-star restaurants, a host of added one-stars, the hill towns of the Alpilles and the Luberon, Arles, and Aix en-Provence. All of this is in the midst of some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.

ACCOMODATION:
In the manor house: spacious reception rooms, 5 air conditioned bedrooms with en suite full bathrooms. In the guest house, La Forge: summer kitchen and 2 bedrooms, one of which with en suite bathroom.

The manor house and the adjacent nineteenth-century guest house were completely and luxuriously refurbished in 2003 in highly refined French country style. The 1500 sq. ft. main salon has a 45-foot ceiling and a beautiful, sweeping staircase rising to an 800 sq. ft. mezzanine, containing a wet bar with seating, an American billiard table and a communications centre with telephone, fax and internet.

The library, under the mezzanine, is a quiet place with a monumental 17thcentury fireplace and a large collection of French and English books and CDs. Two-foot-thick stone walls keep the space cool, even in hot summer days. Graceful, vaulted openings provide wonderful illumination and glorious views. A corridor leads from the living room to an adjacent complex containing a winter salon, a second communications centre, dining room, kitchen, and laundry area. All the rooms on the ground floor as well as the mezzanine have heated floors. The kitchens in both the manor and guesthouse are American style.

The main house has five luxurious double bedrooms (one with king-size bed, two with queen-size beds and two with twin beds) with air conditioning/heating, and full bathrooms. The guesthouse has another two bedrooms (both with full-size beds and one with en suite full bathroom). Furnishings in all bedrooms combine French antique furniture and Provenal fabrics with comfortable beds imported from the United States.

The historical city of Avignon is easily accessible. It is connected to Paris and other French cities by an airport and a TGV (high speed train which reaches Paris in two and a half hours and the Charles de Gaulle airport in two hours and forty five minutes). The international airport in Marseilles is only one hour away and that in Nice is two and a half hours by car. Superhighway A7 passes five minutes west of Avignon.
